With a quiet location, this comfortable home overlooks the majestic St Lawrence River. Boat accessible only, the property is approximately 10 minutes to Gananoque, Canada and 20 minutes to Clayton, NY. There are four bedrooms in the main cottage with a separate, quaint one bedroom cabin a short walk up a path. There is also a beautiful new bedroom attached to the boathouse. All three provide comfortable sleeping for a total of 10 people. The boathouse straddles two new docks with plenty of room for you and all your guests.
Picture yourself lounging on the porch watching a spectacular sunset while the children are entertained in the water below. The Howard-Smith house is surrounded on three sides by a 600 acre natural, wonderland preserve of fields, hedge rows and woods. If that isn't enough to keep you entertained, Grindstone Island is 7 miles by 3 miles, providing plenty of room for long walks and miles of mountain biking. And when you get hot, refresh yourself with a dive into the river. There is a 1/2 acre blueberry covered island (called Blueberry Island!) in front of the house that provides a perfect swimming destination. If you tire of swimming, the St Lawrence is known for excellent fishing and snorkeling. There is a large marsh on the property which you can explore by canoe or kayak, and there is plenty of room for sailing and waterskiing!
Evenings are filled with refreshments on the porch with family and friends, meals around the large dining table, board games, maybe a video, or pick up one of the many books on the bookshelves. Then it's off to bed. Each day is filled with the relaxing fun that great vacations are made from.
